In the early 1900s, Matisse became interested in Cezanne’s art. In his still life The Blue Jug we can see some traits of cezannism, specifically in his techniques of creating the three-dimensional visualizations of objects using paint. Colors become independent from light; they exist on their own, while being used as a means of developing the composition.
