Natalia Goncharova’s canvases from 1908 and 1909 are characterized by her work with large, dense patches of colour. This shows her inclination towards Russian Primitivism and French Fauvism.

At the same time, borrowings connected with the development of the motif of plasticity, so important to the artist, are akin to her own pictorial and expressive temperament.

Goncharova belonged to the generation of master artists that shaped the aesthetics of the new century.
