The history of the Holy Trinity Church of Uzlovaya is typical for many religious buildings in Russia. Built in the early 19th century, it has long been the center of the spiritual life of Uzlovaya and the surrounding villages. The events of the 20th century made their adjustments, and after the war, not only the building, but also the religious Orthodox community in Uzlovaya ceased to exist. Restoration of the temple began only in 1989.
Today it again occupies an important place in the spiritual life of Uzlovaya citizens, tourists come here from all other the regions and even countries. The restoration of the Holy Trinity Church has not yet been completed, but the main works have. Ancient icons, including the icon of the Our Lady of Kazan, in whose honor the chapel was arranged in the Church, could not be saved. But the metric books of the early 19th century survived, which give an idea of who lived in the district.
The painting by artist Felix Assorov was painted in the second half of the twentieth century, when the Holy Trinity Church was still ruined. It is impossible to determine this from the artist’s work, as the brick walls of the building are still majestic. Of course, the old-timers remembered the temple quite differently, with a high bell tower and refectory. At the time of creation of the landscape the Uzlovsky granary was probably located in the building.
Nevertheless, the artist managed to convey the amazing beauty and nobility of Byzantine architecture, which does not seem alien in the Russian nature. The temple is an integral part of the spring landscape, in the foreground of which are white slender birches and a bronze pond, named Burzhuyskiy. On the far slope the snow still lies in bluish islets, but the high sky with feathery clouds barely hides the spring sunshine. It seems that the whole world is frozen in anticipation, a little more — and it will wake up from the long hibernation, and then everything will change. The magical transformation will happen soon, but the artist managed to capture this moment of amazing peace and harmony.
Felix Ivanovich Assorov was born in 1937 in the village of Kadoushenki Tula region. In Moscow he graduated from art school, and then moved to the city of Uzlovaya, where he taught painting for many years in the house of pioneers, and later stood at the origins of the children’s school of painting. As an artist, he noticed every detail and could convey not only what he saw, but also the general atmosphere of the place, the character of the person. Assorov painted dozens of portraits of Uzlovaya citizens, these paintings have been exhibited a lot of times. Felix Assorov is also known as a talented landscape painter, whose works are in private and public collections not only in Russia but also abroad.
