The Uzlovsky Museum is open to the public for more than half a century. It was founded in 1968 by the decision of the municipal executive authorities as a community museum of local history, and turned into a government-run institution as late as 1971.
In1987, the Museum moved to a new building, which housed an art gallery established with the assistance of Sergey Tkachev. The gallery holds a limited collection of Soviet masters.
The small but fairly diverse collection on display has invariably served as a source of inspiration to the Uzlovaya masters of the painting art. The museum has seven showrooms with three of them given over to the art gallery which holds four permanent exhibitions from the Museum’s collection. The Museum’s collection comprises 19,900 exhibits with 17,713 ones of them representing its basic fund.
