As if the artist is looking for inspiration in simple things, but sometimes he is visited by thoughts of unfulfilled hopes. The violin has a broken string on the wall, and next to it hangs a reproduction from a magazine with a portrait of Cervantes — the author of the novel Don Quixote, the protagonist of which was an idealist and dreamer. It is possible that the dangling string and Cervantes are an image of Assorov’s own thoughts.

From the window you can see the snow-covered village huts and hedges with contrasting shadows, the sun shining on the street. Winter is long and snowy, but this is just the time of year, which will be replaced by a more rosy, spring mood. And although now the artist is tormented by some internal disagreements, everything will fall into place with the arrival of the first warm days. And a painting will be with an apple and a Filimonovo horse-toy will be painted.
