The museum’s collection presents a portrait of Abdulhamid Kadyrov, the father of the first president of the Chechen Republic, Akhmad Kadyrov. The artist depicted him on horseback, in a ceremonial red cherkeska, a white burka, and a black papakha, with daggers on his belt. In the background, there is a mountain peak with the cloudy sky above it. The horse on the canvas has bent its neck and tilted its head. Its reins are stretched, and the rider seems to be barely holding the horse in place.

Abdulhamid Kadyrov came from an ancient Chechen family of theologians. His family belonged to Benoy, the largest Teip — a tribal association, all members of which were considered relatives. In the 1940s, Abdulhamid Kadyrov was deported to Kazakhstan, where he worked in coal mines. In 1957, the Kadyrovs returned to their homeland, to the village of Tsentaroy.
Abdulhamid Kadyrov had three sons and four daughters. One of them, Akhmad Kadyrov, became president of the Chechen Republic in 2003. Then this post was taken by Ramzan Kadyrov. He appointed his grandfather as a religious adviser and consulted with him frequently.
Abdulhamid Kadyrov died in 2018 shortly after his 88th birthday. He was buried in the Tsentaroy, modern Akhmat-Yurt, next to the grave of Akhmad Kadyrov. The President of the Chechen Republic was killed during a terrorist attack earlier — on May 9, 2004.
