Islam, Christianity and Judaism are monotheistic religions called Abrahamic religions after the name of their first prophet. All of them are based on the divine revelation recorded in the Torah, the Old and New Testaments, as well as the Quran. The museum’s exhibit “Genealogy of Prophets” illustrates their succession as reflected in Quranic texts that say that Allah sent 124,000 prophets to guide people to the path of truth.
The Holy Scripture mentions only 25 prophets. The list starts with Adam, the first man on Earth, and ends with Muhammad. According to Islam, he completes and seals the messengers’ mission. We know, how their names are pronounced in Greek and Latin, but in the Arabic language of the Quran they sound slightly different. The installation consists of blue octagons with their names written in Tatar, Russian and Arabic.

The octagons are connected by beads, symbolizing people’s generations.
The prophets are people chosen by Allah Almighty to convey his teachings received through revelations to people. The closest one to Allah is Muhammad (Magomed), next to him is Ibrahim (Abraham). They are followed by Nuh (Noah), Musa (Moses), Isa (Jesus). Nuh (Noah) led a righteous life and was saved by God from death in the Deluge. Following Allah’s instructions, he built a huge boat, put his family and a pair of each animal species living on Earth. All other people drowned, but from Noah’s children new peoples and nations arose.
The world’s first monotheistic religion is Judaism. It is based on 10 commandments that God gave Moses on Mount Sinai around 1500 BC. But he only revived the forefather Abraham’s ancient faith rooted in antediluvian times all the way back to Adam. In the 1st century AD there emerged Christianity based on biblical prophecies about the coming of Jesus Christ. His name means the “chosen one”. The youngest Abrahamic religion is Islam, which translates from Arabic as “submission”.
In the Quran, Ibrahim is also named Abul-Anbiya meaning “the father of the Prophets”. King Nimrod, the ruler of the Chaldeans, ordered him to be thrown into the fire, but Allah saved the ascetic’s life. Muhammad was a direct descendant of his eldest son Ismail. The younger one, Ishak (Isaac), became the grandfather of the 12 tribes of Israel.
Musa (Moses) was a descendant of Yaqub (Jacob), Abraham’s great-grandson. God gave him the holy book Taurat (Torah), which serves as the cornerstone of Judaism even today. Moses led the Jews out of slavery in Egypt, and received a revelation inscribed on stone tablets on Mount Sinai. The last prophet in Israel was Isa (Jesus) born like Adam without a father. His mother, noble Maryam, is the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran. Jesus started speaking in his infancy, and later received the gift of healing the sick and raising the dead. He performed many miracles and was taken up alive to heaven at the age of 33.
