There are a lot of pictures and sketches devoted to impressive views of Pereslavl-Zaleski among works of Vladimir painting school artists. Pereslavl-Zaleski is located in Yaroslavl Oblast on the shores of lake Pleshcheevo which is famous for its history. Pereslavl-Zaleski is one of the oldest cities of Russia.

So, painters used to come there to create picturesque works in the open air. The magnificent monastic ensembles are well preserved there. On the top of that, the Boarding house for artists named after Dmitry Nikolaievich Kardovskiy was located there.

Members of the vocational Union of Artists of the USSR used to go there for creative work in Soviet times. Vladimir painters and drawing artists stayed there, mixed with distinguished masters, learned from each other.

The landscape “Crimson evening” painted by Kim Nikolaievich Britov is a picture of the east boundary wall of Goritsky Assumption monastery that is located on Mount Goritsa. The monastery is a landmark that dominates in the town skyline. The architectural ensemble has a great history that began on the foundation day in the 14th century.

The bell tower with Bogoyavlenskaya church are the main vertical of the monastery and they are in the center of Kim Nikolaievich Britov’s work. It is an imposing and stately four-tier building with a small church in the lower tier. Despite art attraction of the landmark the author places ahead depiction of bright sunlight passing through sunset shroud of clouds.

Besides he lays emphasis on the sunlight contrast with saturated blue and purple colors and shades of the cloak of snow in the foreground. The special art manner of painting sun’s rays brings to mind Van Gogh works: dabs of paint of bright-yellow or orange hues put in the circular direction.

K.N. Britov named his work “The crimson evening” whereby he emphasized the importance of state of nature and the evening color palette first and foremost.
