Chingiskhan Khasayev created the painting “Summer. Moldova” in 2013. In the right side of the canvas, he depicted an approaching passenger train, while slightly to the left, on the side of a country road, one can see a girl sitting on a suitcase. A small boy passes in front of her, he carries a case in one hand and holds his younger sister’s hand with the other.
Reality and fantastic motifs often coexist in Khasayev’s paintings: ancient castles are depicted next to modern skyscrapers and ordinary means of transport are joined by clouds that have whimsical, bizarre shapes and forms. As in most of his paintings, for his canvas “Summer. Moldova”, Khasayev uses staffage figures. Staffage are human or animal figures depicted in a landscape as secondary characters, that are not the primary subject matter of the work.
Chingiskhan Khasayev, a Merited Artist of the Chechen Republic, was born on August 24, 1972, in the village of Sadovoye, Stavropol Krai. After finishing school, he entered an art school in Grozny. Khasayev graduated in 1989, and then entered the History Department of the Chechen State University.
In the Chechen art, Khasayev’s canvases are distinguished by their themes and his manner of painting. The artist’s urban landscapes are always grandiose: he depicted long streams of cars, piles of urban buildings, emphasizing the volumes and masses of architectural structures. Thus, his paintings have a futuristic feel to them.
In his latest paintings, Khasayev worked in his usual genres adding to them new interpretations and new techniques. For example, his manner of applying paints has changed. In addition, he started painting night landscapes, which, according to the artist himself, “are difficult when painting shadows in the shades of shadows.”
Since 2006, the artist has participated in the Republican, all-Russian and international exhibitions. In May 2009, the Committee for Youth Affairs of the Chechen Republic arranged Khasayev’s first personal exhibition. It was attended by the Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, who greatly appreciated his work.
In 2010, Khasayev won the 5th Moscow International Festival of Arts “Traditions and Modernity”, a year later winning the international exhibition “Fine Arts: Global Tide” in New York. Khasayev was awarded the honorary title “Merited Artist of the Chechen Republic” in 2012; two years later he became a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia. In 2016, the master was awarded the medal of the Ministry of Culture of the Chechen Republic “For Contributions to the Development of Culture”.
