Chingiskhan Khasayev created the painting “Flying over Grozny” in 2012. The foreground is occupied by images of two eagles soaring above the clouds. A third bird can be seen just below. Under them, the central part of the city of Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic, is spread out. The artist depicted it in the form of a geographical plan, which includes the Heart of Chechnya mosque, the skyscrapers of the Grozny City business center, and the Sunzha River, flowing through the city center.
The painter Chingiskhan Khasayev was born on August 24, 1972, in the village of Sadovoye in the Stavropol region. In 2007, he moved to Grozny, where he graduated from the Chechen State University. In 2010, he won the Fifth Moscow International Festival of Arts “Traditions and Modernity”, and in 2011, he won the grand prize at the Global Tide international exhibition in New York, and a year later, he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Chechen Republic.
Chingiskhan Khasayev paints in the technique of staffage: people and animals in his works are often not the main characters, their figures are added to enliven the landscape. Some works were created in the realism style — these include, for example, a cycle of views of the old Grozny, where Chingiskhan Khasayev depicted views of the Chechen capital of the late 1980s — early 1990s from memory. In addition, the artist paints surrealistic images: in his own words, such works are inspired by his own dreams. Khasayev paints ancient castles and futuristic skyscrapers, realistic natural landscapes and completely fictional places. Most of the time, Khasayev works with paints. He rarely creates black-and-white graphics and they are mostly book illustrations.
Since 2006, his paintings have been exhibited at national, all-Russian and international exhibitions. The first such exhibition was held at the republican Ministry of Culture, and later, Chingiskhan Khasaev’s works were exhibited at the National Museum of the Chechen Republic and the Mikhail Lermontov State Museum-Reserve in Pyatigorsk.
