This collection of poems by Robert Rozhdestvensky from the museum collection was prepared specifically for the literary festival Rozhdestvensky Readings in 2011. It contains the best poems of the poet written throughout the years. The brochure presents philosophical lyrics, poems about love, which the poet regarded love as the main driving force on Earth, and much more.
The brochure also includes a small historical part about the evolution of the Robert Rozhdestvensky Literary Readings in Altai. They were first held in 2007, and in the year when this book was published, the festival celebrated its fifth anniversary. Nowadays, the Readings have become an established tradition — an event that people from all around the region and poetry lovers from other regions of Russia are waiting and preparing for.
It all started with small intimate meetings dedicated to the heritage of Robert Rozhdestvensky, who was born in the village of Kosikha in 1932. Even though the poet lived here for less than a year, he always remembered his small homeland. Gradually, the Readings became quite popular in the Altai Krai and beyond. Since 2012, the event has been held at several venues and has included several different thematic areas. In total, more than 2.5 thousand guests usually arrive.
The number of the regions that send their representatives to the Rozhdestvensky Readings is becoming greater and greater every year. These include Karelia, Moscow, Zlatoust, Ussuriysk, Norilsk, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, and almost all districts of the Altai Krai. Since 2017, the event has received the status of the Regional Literary Festival.
The program of the Readings is a multi-genre and multicultural event that combines the poetry festival “Prove your poems with your own life”, folk and rock venues, funfairs, a festival of national cultures, an excursion program, and professional events for writers. It also includes large concerts held at outdoor venues, where Russian music and theater stars perform. The Robert Rozhdestvensky Literary Festival is held annually in the last ten days of June in Barnaul and the village of Kosikha.
