Gasoline-powered saw “Druzhba” 1974. The color is orange at the top and green at the bottom. The main engine components are the cylinder, crankcase, crankshaft with connecting rod, cooling system, piston, ignition and power system. The frame consists of a rack and a steering wheel with handles, which are interconnected by a vibration damping device, which consists of a hinge and a spring. The saw machine is represented by a saw chain and a tire.
Own production of chainsaws was deployed in the USSR in the mid-1930s at the Perm Plant named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky and Izhevsk Motorcycle Factory. In the late 1930s, work was underway to create chainsaws for one person. However, due to the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, these plans were not implemented. In the 1950s, several prototypes of chainsaws were developed in the USSR and production of the Druzhba saw was started.
In the Soviet Union, the Druzhba gasoline-powered saw was popular. It was developed by employees of the Central Research Institute of Mechanization and Energy of the Forest Industry and the Zaporozhye Machine-Building Design Bureau “Progress” in November 1953. Manufacturers — Machine-building Plant named after Dzerzhinsky (Perm) and Sibpribormash (Biysk). It has been produced in mass production since 1955, with various modifications.
Druzhba was intended for industrial use, although a certain number of products were supplied to retail, they were in great short supply. Until the 1980s, Druzhba was the only chainsaw that was produced in the USSR.
In the 1990s, the production of saws and spare parts for it was also mastered by small private enterprises in various cities of Russia. Initially, the saws were of high quality, but due to factory defects and the transfer of production to private hands, the quality has significantly decreased.
