Artist Andrey Udodov is the author of the project of the first exhibition of the P. P. Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky Manor Museum, which was realized in 1997. In the course of his work, he painted several landscapes in and around the estate park and donated to the museum’s collection the painting ‘At the Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky Estate’.
It depicts part of the park with the main estate house. In the foreground of the picture on the right you can see one of the oldest trees of the estate park — a Siberian cedar. According to a legend popular in this area, it was planted by Pyotr Semyonov himself in his youth in memory of his love for his first wife, Vera Chulkova, who passed away soon after giving birth.
The ‘Ryazanka’ estate is located on the border of Lipetsk and Ryazan regions. Pyotr Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky was born and grew up here, he left his ancestral home only in 1841. The estate was founded in the late 18th century. In his memoirs Peter Semenov described it as follows:
