Tunguses are the indigenous people of the Angara region. The traditional occupation of the Tungus was the processing of birch bark and hides and the manufacture of various items necessary in everyday life from them. Since the Tunguses led a mobile lifestyle, in which they had to carry all the necessary property with them, they made — saddlebags (pack bags).
Tursuk or saddlebags, as they were also called, made on a solid basis from tanned birch bark, had a trapezoidal shape. The lower part of the upper layer was made of deer camus, the upper part was sewn from a soft rainbow and laced with vein ropes. Belt loops and leashes were attached to the flat sides to tie the bags to the pack deer saddle. The end parts were decorated with applications made of strips of cotton fabric, beaded bottoms and leather tassels.
