The souvenir axe from the collection of the Zlatoust City Museum of Local Lore was decorated with the Zlatoust engraving on steel at the Frunze Factory, the former Zlatoust Arms Factory. After the 1917 revolution, it became part of the Lenin Mechanical Complex and transformed into factory workshop No. 16.
In the 1920s, the factory mainly worked with decorative axes, paper knives, cutlery, and personalized gift weapons. During that period, decorative axes were traditionally awarded to shock workers.
This large axe was presented by the Zlatoust Factory named after Vladimir Lenin not to an individual but to the Seventh District Party Conference. It took place between December 17 and December 23, 1928.
Participants of the conference summed up the results of the previous year. For example, the workshop increased the production of axes by 1,183,978 pieces and exceeded the target of 4 million pieces. Moreover, the conference determined the further development path of the vast Zlatoust District. Important ideological decisions were made.
