This weapon is a model of one of the cannons that were also used in the defense of fortresses. Such cannons were designed to fire a mostly solid cast-iron projectile at a low angle of the barrel’s elevation.

The cannons had a caliber of 3-6 lb. (by weight of cast iron kernel, 1 lb. — 409.51241 g), i.e., the inner diameter of the barrel was 72-94 mm. The ammunition used was cannonballs, which had a range of 600-700 meters. Canister shots were also used, with a range of 300-350 meters. The barrel was usually no longer than 12 calibers. The gun could fire up to 3 rounds per minute.
