In the autumn of 1968, on the fiftieth anniversary of the All-Union Leninist Communist Youth Union (VLKSM), Komsomol members left a capsule with a message to their successors, the Komsomol members of 2018. The capsule was put under a slab near the open monument to Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.

The monument to Ulyanov-Lenin itself was solemnly unveiled on October 29, 1968 on the square of school No. 4. The capsule “To Komsomol members of 2018”, which had to be opened on the centenary of the Komsomol, was placed on the same day.

In 1959, when geological exploration of the region was carried out, the population of the village was about 900 people, while in 1967 there already were about 20,000 people. Two years before that, Uray received the status of a town. However, as it is possible to conclude from the message, it had not yet had time to completely change its development, although student construction teams had been working there for several years during the so-called labor semesters, that is in summer.

In 1974, it was decided to move the monument to Vladimir Ilyich Lenin to the central square. It was installed in front of the House of Soviets, currently the building of the city administration. At the same time, another monument was erected on the site of the monument near school No. 4 — it depicted the young Lenin.

The message “To Komsomol members of 2018” was taken from under the slab on October 29, 2018 on the day of the 100th anniversary of the Komsomol. It had been typed on white paper and sealed in a medical test tube. At present, the message is kept in the historical exhibition of the Uray City Historical Museum, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.
