The spacious halls of the Uray City Historical Museum demonstrate the many-sided history of ancient Yugra. There is an extensive collection of various objects and documents that tell about the nature, traditional culture and life of the indigenous peoples of the Khanty and Mansi, the old-timers, about the events associated with the extraction of the first oil and the development of the oil potential of the territory.
The Museum staff collected Soviet and Russian taxidermy objects, photographs, folk dresses, unique household items — tues boxes, skis, and a musical instrument “sankvyltap”.
The increased exhibition space and advanced technical equipment, which is comparable to the leading museums in Russia, give an opportunity to demonstrate to Uray residents and guests even more exhibits that have been kept in storerooms. In 2020, a new interactive terminal and a stand with core samples from various fields were added to the exhibition.
