The ‘Portrait of Alexander Pavlovich Ageyev’ was created by Kotovsk artist Viktor Kudinov in 1984. The person depicted in the painting, Alexander Ageyev, graduated from an industrial school and worked at the Plastmass Plant. In 1940, he was appointed First Secretary to the Kotovsk Town Committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League. At that time, it was considered a great honor to receive such a position. Komsomol organizations were associated with patriotism, good and fair deeds, courage and commitment to the country. That is why young people, who were accepted to the Komsomol, looked up to Ageyev.
In July 1941, Ageyev went off to war. He served on torpedo motorboats defending the approach lanes to Leningrad. His service ended in Germany. For his courage, he received the Red Star Order and the Second-Class Order of the Great Patriotic War, as well as several medals. After the war, Ageyev graduated from a higher party school and became a public and party figure. From 1955 to 1957, he was appointed the chairman of the collective farm named after Andrey Zhdanov in the Sampursky district of the central Tambov Oblast.
Viktor Kudinov portrayed Alexander Ageyev, depicting the awards of the participant of the Great Patriotic War and the defender of Leningrad on his field tunic. Ageyev is also shown wearing the red ribbon of the honorary veteran of the Plastmass Plant.
Viktor Kudinov was born in 1947 in Kotovsk, where he graduated from high school and then a vocational-technical school and later worked in the 5th workshop of the Plastmass Plant. He was an artist of the folk theater named after Alexander Baturov, and in the evenings, he played in an amateur folk group at the Palace of Culture.
Kudinov’s scenery decoration work was highly appreciated by professional theaters in the Tambov Oblast and Moscow. He won the award of the All-Union Show of Amateur Creativity twice — in 1985 and 1987. In 1977–1979, Kudinov studied at the Moscow University of Arts, Art and Graphics department. Victor Kudinov’s canvases were exhibited in the museums of Kotovsk and the Tambov region numerous times and were a great success.
