The cardboard folder for letters and papers displayed in the exhibition is a copy of a folder hanging in the Ulyanovs’ house at the end of the 19th century. It entered the House-Museum in 1931 when Anna Ulyanova-Elizarova came to Ulyanovsk (former Simbirsk). She described in detail the form and material of the folder. According to this description, a teacher Maria Gerasimova, a student of Vera Kashkadamova, a close friend of the Ulyanovs, made her copy of the folder from the cardboard and embroidered it with colored threads. The work hung over the desk in Ilya Ulyanov’s study.
Vera Kashkadamova, who founded the second Simbirsk Gymnasium for girls in 1911, considered herself a student of Ilya Ulyanov. In October 1880, he blessed the graduate of the Kazan Higher Pedagogical Courses to work in the women’s parochial school. Kashkadamova recalled, ‘When leaving him [Ilya Ulyanov], I was calm, satisfied with the principal, and confident that the work at school was not terrifying, but interesting under his advice and guidance.’
