Lenin Memorial is the successor of the Ulyanovsk branch of the Central Museum of Vladimir Lenin opened on November 2, 1941 in a mansion built on the territory of the Ulyanov family estate.
In April 1970, the museum moved to a building that was erected at the birthplace of Lenin for his centennial. The memorial includes the houses where the first years of the Ulyanov family’s life were spent in the city of Simbirsk, a multipurpose cinema concert hall, and the House of Political Education with classrooms. Furthermore, Lenin House-Museum — the estate, which the Ulyanov family owned at the end of the 19th century, is part of the Memorial.
