Handmade albums personally put together by Yusupov add an important touch to the owner’s image. They include a variety of pictures that the prince found peculiar or useful, so he had them saved in this manner.

Yusupov’s handmade album is a collection of prints pasted on separate pages. The handwritten title reads, ‘A brief description of cities and squares’. The album contains two sets of prints that vary a lot in content and execution.

The first set includes portraits of military leaders and images of battles of the Austro-Turkish war of 1683 – 1689. The second set includes images of European cities and fortresses, the Strait of Gibraltar countries, and the Algerian coast with brief descriptions of battles and pictures of cities.

The author of the drawings is a Flemish artist Jan Peeters (1624 — c. 1677) known mainly for his seascapes.
