Ossip Zadkine, born in Russia, was one of the masters who defined the ‘plastic face’ of Cubism. Plane shifts, geometric forms, the combination of different projections — these are the typical methods of the new movement, implemented in volume and plasticity. Most of Zadkine’s artworks are based on the Cubist idea of reconstructing the human body from geometrical volumes.
