Thanks to the design, one photographic 13×18cm plate could produce 15 3×4cm frames (3 rows of 5 frames each).
The multiplier was manufactured by the Local Industry Trust of the Kominternovsky District of Moscow in 1938. The camera was charged with a glass negative plate or 13×18cm sheet film. The device was also equipped with an Industar lens with aperture ratio of 1:3.5 in the GOMZ shutter.

A mirror was installed in the body of the device, which threw up the rays coming from the lens. Groundglass used for focusing was placed to the multiplier’s top. During the process of shooting, the mirror rose up with the help of a flexible trigger, and the rays were directed to the rear wall, where the cassette moved in special crosswise grooves. Focusing wasperformed by rotating the front lens of the objective.

The idea of obtaining several images on one photographic plate has been used in Russia by “Iohime and Co.” since 1911. A pavilion multiplier of this company with an Iris shutter and a Tessar lens made it possible to take 15 pictures of 3×4cm format or 6 pictures of 4×6cm format on a 13×18cm photographic plate. In his multiplier Lyubimov used the same principle as the devices of “Iohime and Co.”, which was about moving a photographic plate in relation to the frame window along with mirror focusing.
