‘Hawkeye’ was produced by the American Blair Camera Company from 1904 to 1907. The company was based in Boston, Massachusetts.
In 1890, Thomas Blair’s company bought another Boston-based camera company, the Boston Camera Company, and continued with its Hawkeye series of box-type cameras. Thomas Blair and his companions constantly changed and improved the mechanics of the cameras. It was believed that no cameras produced by Blair’s companywere alike.
Since 1899, the Thomas Blair company has become a special department of the Kodak Company. They moved to Rochester, New York, Kodak’s motherland. Blair continued to release Hawkeye cameras, including stereo cameras: The “Stereo Hawkeye Model No. 3, 4” were produced from 1907 to 1911, and the “Stereo Hawkeye Model No. 5, 6” were manufactured from 1912 to 1913.
