Nikolai Ivanovich Andreev (1937-2016) is the local writer-history expert, a member of the Union of the local history experts of the Russian Federation. He was born in 1937 in Gorokhovets. He graduated from the Ivanovo Engineering College in 1957. In 1965 he graduated from the Gorky Polytechnic Institute. From 1966 he worked as the chief engineer. From 1977 to 1984 he worked as the director of the factory of the lifting and transporting equipment. From 1997 to 1999 Nikolai Ivanovich was the head of the administration of the city of Gorokhovets. From 1999 to 2002 he was the deputy head of the administration of the Gorokhovets district. Andreev is the author of several inventions. He was awarded the medal ‘Veteran of work’ and the Gold medal of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements. Since the late 80s of the 20th century he was engaged in the literary activities. He is the author of a large number of publications in the local press, as well as in the literary collections concerning the local lore. Andreyev wrote five books about the Gorokhovets region. In fact, Nikolai Ivanovich Andreev is the chief historian of Gorokhovets. With his research he proved that the city of Gorokhovets was founded long before its first mention in 1239.
