The Museum of Technical Thought ‘Marfa Posadnitsa’ was exhibited before the public in October 2017. In fact this is a guest exposition and it is located in the wooden mansion of Morozov, which retained the authentic interior elements.
Its opening was determined by the need for restoration of the main museum buildings. But the museum cannot be closed, its purpose, among other things, is the display of the collection, the educational and learning activities.
Using the accumulated material on the crafts of the Gorokhovets sheading, which was partially presented in the expositions, and adding the new archive materials, documents and films the museum staff worked on the creation of the new museum space. The expositions of the Museum of Technical Thought ‘Marfa Posadnitsa’ cover a topic of the appearance and development of the boiler and shipbuilding industry as a result of the continuity of generations based on the dynasties of the shipbuilders of the Gorokhovets sheading and its environs by means of the popularization of the forgotten rare profession of the peasants-seasonal workers whose representatives left an indelible mark in the history of Russia in the form of constructions that have survived to this day.
The contribution of the peasants-seasonal workers of the Gorokhovets sheading was not reflected and adequately noted in the popular publications or in the special sources. This exhibition is a debt of gratitude and a tribute to the memory of the people who glorified Gorokhovets throughout Russia and abroad.
The beginning of the construction of the metal vessels on the Klyazma and Oka rivers was due to the availability of the skilled manpower for the production of the flat product and the profiled iron — the boiler makers. The river fleet historians still qualify the construction of the world’s largest oil barge “Marfa Posadnitsa” in Gorokhovets as a beachhead in the river shipbuilding.

The exposition is not intended to be a comprehensive, large-scale and detailed coverage of all stages of the metalworking production from the late 19th to the middle of the 20th century. Its main idea is a story about the boiler industry as a result of continuity of generations underlying the creation of shipyards in the Gorokhovets sheading and its environs. The sections of the exposition focus on the certain aspects closely related to the development of the industry: the leaving for seasonal work, the boiler workshops and the family dynasties as well as the boiler makers and the founders of the shipyards.
