Maria Lisichenko is a graduate of the Moscow State Academic Art College (Homage to 1905) and the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute. She is a teacher and has participated in numerous exhibitions, including an exhibition by graduates of the Moscow State Academic Art College (Homage to 1905) in Tarusa (2011), and a ‘Retrospective’ exhibition in her hometown of Lytkarino, in the House of Culture ‘Mir’ (2017).
In her works, the artist reflects not only personal experiences and impressions, but also universal, eternal values. They are imbued with light and sincerity, childlike spontaneity and seem to reflect the world around them through the child’s perception. Her childish images are gentle and pretty, reflecting her motherhood. For each composition, the artist selects different color combinations, sometimes brighter and more saturated, which determine the general mood of the painting.
The coloring of “The Summer Evening” is a contrasting combination of cold greenish-turquoise shades and warm ocher, which gives the composition a feeling of freshness and brightness. Her artistic method is the embodiment of images with single color spots of different sizes, thanks to which the feeling of the unreality of the composition space is created. The surface of the canvas seems to come alive and vibrates from the breeze. With the external impression of the absence of plot and action, the painting manages to focus the viewer’s attention and encourage him to think.
The artist speaks of her works this way: ‘These paintings are no longer for everyone, they will rather be close to those who have gone through motherhood. Warm autumn shades prevail here. These paintings are consonant with the middle of life and with a more mature age. Some images I just dreamed or invented, others came while I was sleeping, and some are reflections of memories. "
The image of a charming little girl holding an apple in her hand evokes emotion. Nevertheless, the meaning of the image of this apple brings an element of mystery into the painting. It can symbolize health and well-being or be a symbol of the Fall. At the same time, the color of the composition disposes to dreamy contemplation. There is an association with a dream that brings the viewer back to childhood.
