The earliest printed Greek edition of Homer (8th century B.C.) was published in Florence in 1488 and was compiled by an Italian humanist of Greek origin, Demetrius Chalkokondyles (1424—1511). The edition comes in two volumes. The first volume includes the poem Iliad.

In the post-revolutionary years, all incunabula and paleotypes were removed from the library at Arkhangelskoye. The books presented at the exhibition are currently stored at the RSL.
