There is Prince Felix Yusupov with his wife Irina in the green room of the Rakityansky Palace in the photo. The picture, a copy of which is displayed at the exhibition, was taken during their exile in 1916.
In February 1914, with the consent of Emperor Nicholas II, Prince Felix Yusupov married his niece, Grand Duchess Irina Alexandrovna. It was the last wedding celebration in the Yusupov family before the revolution. The wedding of Felix and Irina was also the last pre-war celebration in the imperial family.
The wedding took place on February 22, 1914 in the house church of the Anichkov Palace. “Seated” parents of the bride were Emperor Nicholas II and his mother, the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna. An entry in her diary has been preserved: “Today, here, in the church, was the wedding of my dear little Irina.”
In his memoirs published in exile, Felix described the day of his wedding as follows:
