Rakityansky Museum of Local History was opened on August 5, 1997, in the village of Rakitnoye. It is located in the estate house, an ancient heritage building, constructed in 1846 under Prince Boris Yusupov. The famous Yusupov Princes owned the Rakityansky land for 188 years.
On the first floor, the enfilade-hall layout has been almost completely preserved, where an exposition dedicated to the famous princely family of the Yusupovs is located.
Nowadays, the museum is the leading research and educating cultural institution of the Rakityansky District. Its funds are listed as having more than six thousand exhibits.

More than twenty-seven thousand guests annually visit its halls. The museum exhibitions spotlight the historical events in the Rakityansky Region from the earliest times up to the present day.
