In the collection of the Urazovo Local History Museum, you can see a photographic portrait of Kirill Evstigneev, a fighter pilot, ace, participant of the Great Patriotic War, Twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General of Aviation.
Kirill Evstigneev was born on February 17, 1917 in the village of Bolshiye Khokhly, Orenburg province. The large family had five daughters and two sons. After graduating from seven classes of school, he entered the factory college in the city of Chelyabinsk.
In 1938, Kirill Evstigneev was drafted into the Red Army. He was enrolled in the Birma Military Aircraft Pilots' School in the Birma garrison of the 2nd Separate Red Banner Army of the Far Eastern Front. Evstigneev graduated from it with honors, so he was left at the school as an instructor.
After the start of the Great Patriotic War, Kirill Evstigneev wanted to go to the front, but he was not allowed. Then he was sent to the Central sorting point of the Air Force in Moscow to transfer Aircobra fighters from America, received under Land Lease. At this time, the commander of the 240th Fighter Aviation Regiment, Major Ignatiy Soldatenko, chose fighters for his regiment from former instructors of flight schools and colleges. He selected ten sergeants, among whom were Ivan Kozhedub and Kirill Evstigneev. Together they went through the whole war, were friends and competed in the number of downed enemy planes.
