Lyudmila Zakharova
Flowers and fruit
#4
Still life ‘Flowers and fruit’ from the Valuy Museum of History and ARt was created by the Ukrainian artist Lyudmila Zakharova. She was born in 1951 in Voroshilovgrad (currently Luhansk).
\
In 1970, she graduated from the Voroshilovograd School of Art. A couple of years later, Zakharova entered the Kiev State Art Institute in the workshop of easel painting by Professor Viktor Shatalin. She graduated in 1978. After that, she began working in The Creative Workshops of the ‘Artist’ FLC in Kiev of the Art Foundation of Ukraine and participated in national and international art exhibitions.

Lyudmila Zakharova has been working in the field of the easel painting all her professional life. Since 1989, she became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Zakharova’s works are kept in museums, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad, including the Belgorod Art Museum.

Lyudmila Zakharova is a master of color and shades and in the composition of narration. With help, she emphasizes the atmosphere and air space in the picture. Using a contrasting palette, the artist also conveys her sense of beauty and harmony of color.

Zakharova repeated the technique with a compositional solution in the still life “Flowers and fruit.” Her idea is to show the contrast between the warmth of the room and the cold outside. And if bright colors are used inside the room, then outside the window, on the contrary, there are pale and restrained colors.

On the table by the window, Zakharova painted orange physalis lanterns and dried poppy boxes in a vase. The vase takes on the role of a bright accent on the picture. It seems to set off the color of the dry bouquet that is in it. In front of the vase is a fruit bowl with apples, and next to it is a ceramic cup and saucer. The table is draped with a white towel with embroidery made in folk style: red and black threads embroidered geometric ornament—stripes of a patterned repeating pattern alternate with rhombuses, flower paths. In almost every Ukrainian house, there was a national towel called a rushnik.
