The gilded presentation dish was made at public expense in the workshops of Moscow. The Tyumen City Society presented it as a gift to Emperor Alexander III and Empress Maria Fedorovna on the coronation day, May 15, 1883.
The coronation ceremony of Alexander III took place in the Cathedral of the Assumption of Moscow Kremlin. The people were informed of the rite of anointing by the sound of bells, as well as by a hundred and one cannon shots. A few days later, from May 16 to 18, 1883, in the Andreyevsky Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, the provincial leaders of the nobility, the clergy of the Synod, the generals, and other high-ranking members of the Russian society congratulated Alexander III and Maria Fedorovna and presented them memorial gifts.
Representatives of country councils, heads of provincial towns, and rural foremen offered bread and salt to Their Majesties. Among them were Tyumen people with their gift — a presentation dish, richly decorated with heraldic and address ornamentation:
