The collection of the Urazovo Local History Museum contains a photograph of Anatoly Babushkin — D.Sc. in Engineering, Professor, Academician of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine and the International Engineering Academy, Honored Machine Builder of Ukraine, as well as Honorary Aircraft Builder of the USSR.
Anatoly Babushkin was born on April 6, 1932 in the Urazovo settlement of the Kursk region in a working class family. In 1940 he entered the Urazovo secondary school named after F. Engels. Babushkin graduated from it in 1950, after which he went to enter the Kharkov Aviation Institute at the aircraft building faculty. Babushkin often participated in student research project groups there and was engaged in various creative activities.
In 1956, 24-year-old Anatoly Babushkin graduated from the institute, and he was sent to work at the Kharkov Aviation Plant. Babushkin was appointed there as the head of the design bureau of the chief technologist’s department, and then as the head of the mechanization and automation department. In 1964 he was transferred to a research institute to organize a research laboratory at the plant. Babushkin led this laboratory for two years. From 1966 to 1987, Anatoly Babushkin first headed the research department, and then the research department of the same institute.
Anatoly Babushkin based his thesis research for PhD in Engineering on the materials of the development of a new method for TU-134 aircraft assembling. In 1967 he successfully defended his thesis research. Three years later, the Supreme Attestation Commission of the USSR awarded Babushkin the title of senior researcher, and in 1971 — associate professor with a degree in aircraft production technology.
