Illustrations for 13th-15th chapters of the ‘Exegetical Tantra’ contain the description of the healthy man’s norms of behavior such as the daily behavior, behavior depending on the seasons and behavior in special cases.
Chapter 13 is dedicated to the daily living and behavior. The first image recommends each person to always carry the “best medicaments”, the jewelry talismans and talismans with mantra conjurations with them. First of all, it is important to be cautious in order to stay alive. The images in the upper line warn that it’s not allowed to sit in the unsafe boat, to ride the disobedient horse, walk in the dangerous places where you might get killed, go into the big water or fire. In the second line the raw of figures lying in bed illustrate the recommendations connected with the sleeping routine, struggling against insomnia as well as slumberous feeling. The images from the beginning of the third line are dedicated to the norms of sex life. Further there are the personal hygiene recommendations. The illustrations describing the religious norms of behavior and morals start with the image of a preacher in the second section, fourth upper line. The half of the fifth, the sixth and the beginning of the seventh line have images depicting the acts forming the number of ‘ten black sins’ such as murder, theft, breaking the norms of sex life etc. The next section, starting with the sixth lower line, contains the illustrations of the deeds and finishes with the image of a fire. The enemy’s house (the armor is the sign of an enemy) is on fire, but a virtued and magnanimous man rushes to rescue.
The 14th chapter is dedicated to the way of living depending on the seasons. The series starts with the scheme of the planets’ position in winter depicted in the round. The images illustrate the diet and way of living recommended for different seasons. The image of tillage in the beginning of the fourth lower line is the sign of spring; the image of the germinated field at the end of the line shows the season of plants’ growth; the clouded skies in the beginning of the second lower line is the sign of summer, the cold and rainy season; autumn is shown with the image of the harvest.
Chapter 15th describes the behavior norms in special cases. Three images in the end of the second lower line and the images in the lower line illustrate the recommendations not to suppress the natural impulses and body functions such as hunger, thirst, sickness, sneezing, yawning, breathing, sleeping, phlegm’s inference, the inference of saliva, flatulences, excrements, urine and seed.
