Niccolò Bambini was an Italian painter of the late-Renaissance and early-Baroque periods. He was born in Venice in 1651. Although many of Bambini’s works have been preserved in Venice and Veneto, not much is known about his life. He first studied under Giulio Mazzoni in Venice. Later he went to Rome, where he became a student of Carlo Maratti. Returning to his homeland, he became a student and follower of the painter Liberi.

Niccolò Bambini’s works include “The Adoration of the Magi” in the Church of San Zaccaria in Venice, painted jointly with Antonio Balestra, as well as the décor of the library hall of the Bishop’s Palace in Udine in 1709. His style is moderately dramatic, and his compositions are sometimes highly rhythmic.

In Venice, Bambini worked mainly as an interior decorator of palaces and villas.

Bambini had two sons who also became artists.
