The “Honored Worker of Taimyr” badge is traditionally awarded on a number of special occasions, including anniversaries and professional holidays. The badge is a medal made of silver-colored alloy with an inscription. The flying red-breasted goose, depicted in the center of the medal on a blue background, is a symbol of Taimyr, thus expressing gratitude to the people who work for the okrug.

The award recognizes high professionalism and many years of service in various fields that contribute to the development of culture, economy, science, health, peace, etc. This includes the protection of the indigenous environment and the preservation of the traditions of the life of the indigenous people of Taimyr.

In 2004 the medal was awarded to Svetlana Nereevna Zhovnitskaya, a teacher at the Scientific and Methodological Center. Svetlana Nereyevna’s activity is devoted to the Nganasan language and culture. She is the founder of the Nganasan writing system, created Nganasan ABC book and wrote some articles and handbooks on traditional culture and folklore of the ancient Taimyr ethnos.

In the same year, four geologists who contributed to the development of the oil and gas condensate fields were awarded the title of “Honored Worker of Taimyr”. Governor Oleg Mikhailovich Budarin noted the importance of geological exploration as the fundamental industry of Taimyr: after all, it is the discovery of oil and gas and mineral complexes that the district owes much of its prosperity to.

In 2005, Nina Anatolievna Predtechenskaya, Head of the History Department of the Taimyr Local History Museum, received this award. As a local historian, she devoted more than 30 years to work in the museum, conducted extensive research work; thanks to her, a lot of archival documents revealing the history of Taimyr and specifically of Dudinka were introduced into the scholarly literature. Nina Anatolyevna is the author of the books “Candle of Memory”, “Loyal to Duty”, “Dudinka. Time. People. Fates”.

The collection of awards was handed over to the Taimyr Local History Museum by Vadim Vladimirovich Bykov, Chairman of the State Property Management Committee, by order of the District’s Deputy Governor for Investment Policy.
