In Stavropol Krai Museum of Fine Arts, separate halls are reserved for exhibits of the Golden Collection. This exposition consists of Old Russian, Russian and Western European paintings, art and craft items.
A part of the exhibits was transferred by the Stavropol Museum of Local Lore, where they came from the collection of Alafuzov merchants at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1936, the Golden Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts was supplemented by exhibits from Rostov-on-Don Museum of Mountain Peoples, among which there were landscape paintings by Aivazovsky and Zankovsky. A part of the collection came from the Russian Museum and Hermitage.
In the Golden Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, you can see paintings by Russian masters Kuindzhi, Polenov, Repin, Meshchersky, Bogolyubov and rare works by foreign artists Elizabeth Yerihau and Angelika Kauffmann.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
