Vladimir Nikitovich Telin, a People’s Artist of Russia, played a major role in the preservation and development of Russian fine art in the Volga region. In 1986, on his initiative, an art gallery was established in Zavolzhsk. It became a significant event in the cultural life of the town and the district. The art collection was made up of over 100 works previously housed in the Fund of the Artists’ Union of the USSR.
The exhibition displays artists from Moscow, Kostroma, Vladimir, Yaroslavl, and Ivanov. The visitors can see all genres of painting, with landscape being the most common.
Many of the works were created by representatives of the association “Romantics of Realism”. The founders of the association were Nikita Petrovich Fedosov, Vyacheslav Nikolaevich Zabelin, Vladimir Vyacheslavovich Shcherbakov, and Vladimir Nikitovich Telin. Each of them had his own theme, manner of painting, and style. But at the same time, as the artists themselves admitted, their paintings were cohesive: they followed the traditions of Realism in execution and of Romanticism in essence.
The museum also exhibits
graphic works, sculptures and examples of decorative and applied arts.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
