Permanent Exhibition Russian Art from the 16th to the Beginning of the 20th Century provides an opportunity to keep the track of the development of the national painting throughout the above period. The tour of the exhibition starts in the room dedicated to Feodor Kovalenko, the founder of the museum.
Further, the visitors may see the room of the Ancient Russian painting and see the unique icons of the Russian North of the Moscow and Novgorod schools of painting. The room of the first half of the 19-th century comprises the original works of Borovikovskiy, Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Le Brun, Makarov, Tropinin and other representatives of Romanticism in painting.
The second half of the 19th century room presents the landscapes of Shishkin, Polenov, Surikov and Pimonenko. The beginning of the 20th century painting in the collection of the F.A. Kovalenko Krasnodar Museum is represented by the paintings of Korovin, Kustodiev, Valentin Serov, as well as the works of members of associations Mir iskusstva (the World of Art), Soyuz Russkih Hudozhnikov (the Union of Painters of Russia), Golubaya Roza (The Blue Rose) and Bubnovy Valet (The Jack of Diamonds).
