The Krasnodar Regional Art Museum named after F. A. Kovalenko is one of the oldest museums in the North Caucasus. It is housed in two buildings that are registered as architectural monuments: in the house of engineer Shardanov of 1905 and in the Ekaterinodar reginal office of the State Bank of 1902-1903.
The museum collection houses more than 13 thousand artworks: paintings, graphics, sculptures and decorative and applied art. Particularly valuable art movements presented in the collections are the Russian avant-garde, the Japanese multicolor woodblock printing of the 18th-19th centuries, the Netherlandish art of the 16th century, Russian and Soviet paintings, as well as ex-libris.
The exhibition areas of the museum are supplemented with multimedia panels and an interactive book “The Chronicles of Museum life. Pages of history”.
