The exhibition tells of the feat of Arctic explorers, the life and legends of the indigenous peoples of the north, the rebellious but fragile nature of the region and the signs of the times.
The museum presents old documents, photographs, books, tools, models and replicas of northern ships — from the first Pomory nomads to icebreakers of the modern era.
One of the central themes of the exhibition is the life and feat of Valerian Albanov, the prototype for the protagonist in the Veniamin Kaverin novel “Two Captains”. Navigator and Arctic explorer, Valerian Albanov spent his childhood and youth in Ufa.
Albanov undertook an unparalleled voyage through the drifting ice of the Arctic Ocean and survived Georgy Brusilov’s tragic polar expedition on the schooner “Saint Anna” which got stuck in the ice.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
