In the first half of the 1970s Valeriy Kokurin created a large series of works with lightened delicate color palette. The artist preferred bluish-pink color scheme, used big brushes, increased format of his works.

The author’s painting style became more sweeping, bold, energetic. Mother-of-pearl shades and smooth color transitions appeared in his pictures. In some pictures he combined several shades in one brush stroke applying paint to canvas.

Valeriy Kokurin’s work of art “Spring Suzdal” illustrates vividly peculiarities of color relations in the painter’s creativity of that period. The main tone of the painting is purple-pink, it prevails in the image of the sky and creates special evening mood. Blue and lilac layer of paint were used for snow and water depicting.

#4

Red and green elements, such as roofs and domes of churches add picturesque contrast, feeling of life and warmth against the background painted with cold colors.

#5

The trees painted with yellow and olive paints are in harmony with the general coloring of the picture. They emphasize spring time of the year in the work. Soft blur of lines and pastel color spots make the composition lively and expressive and convey the atmosphere of the evening.
