Valery Gazzaev is a member of Grigory Fedotov’s symbolic club as a footballer who scored more than 100 goals in his career. However, his appearances on the national team were extremely rare: only 8 matches for the national team and 11 for the Olympic team.

Valery Gazzaev, however, was much more successful as a football coach. He is the only Russian coach to win a European cup with a Russian team and the only Russian to be recognized by the UEFA as Coach of the Year. When Gazzaev won the UEFA Cup with CSKA, a street was named after him in Tskhinval, where his father used to live.

By the way, the creation of the Grigory Fedotov Club was the initiative of Konstantin Yesenin, a prominent Soviet journalist and football expert, and Football weekly magazine in 1967. It was named after a football player who was the first to score 100 goals in his sports career.
