Oleg Blokhin was one of the best Soviet players. In 1975, he was awarded the Ballon d’Or as the best football player in Europe.He set multiple records that remain valid to this day. For instance, he was the only football player to be awarded the title of the best player in the USSR for three consecutive years. It was to Blokhin that Tamara Gverdtsiteli, a famous singer, dedicated her song Vivat, Korol (Long Live the King). She sang it for the first time in 1988 ahead of the farewell match of the legendary forward.
