In July 1868, Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich visited the Industrial Exhibition in Tyumen, which had been specially prepared for his visit. The commemorative medal displayed in the museum exhibition is the only monument of Russian medallion art devoted to the stay of the ruling dynasty’s representative in Western Siberia.
The obverse of the medal has the picture of the Grand Duke. The following inscription was minted on the edge of the medal: “Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich”. The portrait bears the signature of the author — the master Vasily Alexeyev. On the reverse side of the medal, in the center, there is a coat of arms of Tyumen under the emperor’s crown with ribbons, and on the circumference, you can read the inscription in two lines:
