The Council of Lawmakers of the Russian Federation under the Federal Assembly was established in 2012 as an advisory and consultative body. The Council is responsible for the agreed implementation of domestic policy and interaction between public authorities as well as it contributes to the sharing experience between members of parliamentary activities. The Council of Lawmakers includes the Chair of the Federation Council, the Chair of the State Duma, their first deputies, representatives of authority bodies and committees, and executive secretaries entitled to vote.
On April 27, 2018, members of the Federation Council, deputies of the State Duma, heads of bodies of legislative power of subjects of the RF, representatives of executive power and non-governmental organizations participated in the meeting of the Council of Lawmakers.
That day lawmakers considered issues of quality control of medical services and special aspects of development of digital economy in regions of the country.
The Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko noticed that recently the Federal Assembly and legislative bodies of the subjects of the RF had turned into a strong independent branch of power that contributed to the development and improvement of democratic traditions and provided for stable social and economic development of Russia.
The Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin highlighted that his colleagues had to develop more effectively and carefully drafts of laws aimed at implementing the provisions of the Message of the President. He believed that this initiative would improve considerably the quality of various decisions, accelerate their approval and make it possible to work out regional drafts of law at early stages.
Vladimir Putin also participated in the meeting of the Council of Lawmakers. The President thanked the lawmakers for their efficient work and considerable contribution to the creation of common legal framework of the country.
