The exhibition ‘Russia in Mid-19th to Early 21st Centuries’ deals with the key events and figures of Russian history in recent centuries. Its exhibits include original items of the historical period: memorable flags and agitprop posters, ancient books and maps, postcards and letters, documentary photos, works of fine arts and handicrafts.
Its visitors will find out how the battle of Stalingrad unfolded and what happened during the Russo-Japanese War, what locomobiles and tachankas (light horse-drawn vehicles) were like and why they were used, why all the first Russian submarines failed to pass their test, what political cartoon maps were like and why the movie ‘Zastava Ilyicha’ (Ilyich Outpost) outraged Nikita Khrushchev.
