The beginning of health care in the settlement of Urazovo dates back to 1869, when for the first time a doctor began to come from Ostrogozhsk to Valuyki and Urazovo and receive patients.
In 1905, a building was allocated for an outpatient clinic, and the zemstvo decided to build hospitals in the city of Valuyki and the Urazovo settlement. In 1912, a zemstvo hospital began operating in Urazovo, which included various departments: polyclinic, surgical, therapeutic and infectious diseases. The hospital was headed by a surgeon Yakov Slansky, and Vasily Nezhintsev was in charge of the therapeutic service. In 1933, on a false denunciation by doctors, Slantsev and Nezhintsev were repressed.
In the same period and before the start of the Great Patriotic War, the health care of the Urazovo district was headed by a surgeon Vladimir Kobanov. During the war years, many doctors and nurses of the Urazovo district hospital went to the front. The hospital building housed mobile combat hospitals. The only specialist here was a doctor named Shanina, who was assisted by two nurses. All of them were in close and difficult conditions, but they honorably performed their official duties. Remembering that time, people speak with gratitude about a man by the name of Garbuzov, who was in charge of the economic part of the hospital from 1930 to 1965.
